Looking at the back of the ScreenPlay 7200, you have to like all the inputs it provides. The only one missing is the new HDMI interface, but I didn't expect that new-fangled connector since this projector was released about a half a year ago. We won't be seeing many of the new HDMI projectors for a while yet. Nevertheless, there are plenty of inputs for whatever you'd like to hook up, including 2 S-Video inputs, 2 RCA component inputs, one each of composite, VGA, and DVI inputs, and even a D5 input.

I also like the configurability of this unit. Even though the projector's settings were nearly perfect out of the box, digging into the menu system I noticed that there are bountiful choices when it comes to adjusting this baby. Sure, you're able to adjust the brightness and contrast, but then the ScreenPlay give you a choice of lots of Gamma settings that have each been tuned for specific situations, like movies, video, PC, and even two for a bright room. I chose the PC setting, because it looks the brightest. You're also given the option of selecting the color space, choosing between RGB, REC 709 or REC 601, and you can also choose your color temperature, selecting either 6500K, 7500K or 9300K. I was a little disappointed in the Keystone setting, which works great of vertically off-center applications, say if you're hanging the projector from a high ceiling. But if you want to place the projector on a coffee table that's horizontally off-center, say, to the left a bit, you can't straighten that out as you can with other projectors. Maybe that's not important if you're permanently installing this unit, but it does have a handle on it, which implies you might be taking this unit with you, into situations where there's not as much control.

That said, even with these minor complaints, I have to conclude that the InFocus ScreenPlay is an excellent projector, splashing the screen with bright whites while delivering deep, dark blacks. At the same time, the crispy sharpness and color saturation of its HDTV output is nothing short of remarkable. If you're a big fan of HDTV, and are looking for that big Wow factor in a projector, this is it. Highly recommended.

Content Insider #148 - The iGen
NO...Doesn't have a thing to do with "that" smartphone...or "that" store...or "that" tablet. It's the next generation. Kids and we mean little kids. That's what today's products are being designed for/targeted at. You happen to buy one...fine. Watch a little, little kid pick up a smartphone. He/she just uses it. They've come pre-wired and we're still trying to figure out how to IM. It's the IGen. They want it instantly. They want to use it instantly. They expect their photos, their video, their music, their stuff immediately when/where/how they want it. Read More

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
