Star Choice Communications Launches Motorola DSR500 HD Satellite Receivers
Star Choice Communications Inc. announced today the launch of a new, fully-integrated, high-definition (HD) satellite receiver, the Motorola DSR500 HD.
"The new Motorola DSR500 HD satellite receiver is the latest innovation in satellite technology," says Brad Shaw, Senior Vice-President of Operations, at Star Choice. "It leap frogs the competition with crystal clear high-definition images, digital sound, an enhanced interactive onscreen program guide and faster interactive response."
The Motorola DSR500 HD will deliver nine times better picture quality than any standard television signal. It uses Dolby AC-3 5.1 and Prologic sound components delivering CD quality audio. A must-have for any home theatre enthusiast, the Motorola DSR500 HD also boasts an enhanced picture-in-guide feature allowing viewers to continue watching their current program while they browse through the onscreen interactive programming guide of TV listings. The Motorola DSR500 HD, with its slick silver chassis, provides viewers with a digital readout on the front and a complete selection of connection ports on the back including: S-video, USB, Ethernet, optical and digital audio outputs, coaxial and RCA ports. Its new universal remote is an all-in-one and multi-TV capable with extended functionality for VCR control.
Star Choice will be adding three new high-definition channels in early September. These channels will feature HDTV versions of hit shows like CSI- Crime Scene Investigation, Law and Order, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Everybody Loves Raymond. In addition, HDTV really comes to life with movies and major sporting events like Lord of the Rings, Austin Powers Goldmember, Minority Report, and NFL Football, PGA Golf and NBA Basketball. Based on customer demand, Star Choice will also be launching, Sportsnet HD, the best in sports programming on high definition.

"We are increasing the number of dedicated HD channels from three to six and will continue to expand our programming to meet the needs of our customers," says Shaw. "We are not planning on charging any additional fees for HDTV content."
Industry experts indicate that sales of HDTVs have been outperforming standard TV sales by two to one. Sixty-five percent of TVs sold are now HD capable. Last year sales of HDTV's grew from the previous year by 24 percent. This is a clear trend that HDTV market will continue to grow. Star Choice has the ideal receiver for any HDTV.
