Miranda Ships New 10-Bit HD-SDI to SDI Downconverter
Miranda Technologies is shipping its new QDC-801i HD SDI to SDI downconverter. The board-level product is part of the company's Imaging Series of digital video and audio interfaces and signal processing modules.
The QDC-801i is a 10-bit, high-quality HD downconverter that conforms to SMPTE 292M and outputs to SMPTE 259M-C for SDI, SMPTE 170M for NTSC, and ITU 624-4 for PAL. Both automatic line format and frame-rate input detection, as well as VLI and WSS information insertion, are provided. The QDC-801i also offers advanced 3D de-interlacing with edge detection and interpolation and 3:2 pull-down detection.
Additional processing includes noise reduction, detail enhancement, and color-space conversion (from ITU-709 to ITU-601). Aspect ratio conversion including resizing with full blending and picture positioning (DVE) is available, providing an added level of flexibility with standard and custom user presets. The QDC-801i can de-embed digital audio and metadata such as timecode and closed-captioning from the HD input and then re-embed it within the SD output with the proper audio and metadata delay and process.

Miranda's Imaging Series board-level modules provide all the flexibility needed to adapt incoming video/audio feeds to suit a station's infrastructure. Imaging Series modules offer a range of functions, including proc-amp, A-to-D conversion, frame synchronization, variable delay, and embedding/de-embedding with track swapping.
The Imaging Series modules are housed in Miranda's 4RU Symphonie frame, which accommodates 16 slots for audio and video modules. In addition to space efficiency, the frame provides full power-supply redundancy and advanced alarming capabilities.
